May 2009: Lecture-recital in Madrid by Douglas Riva

On May 7th, Douglas Riva presented a lecture-recital in Madrid for a three-day symposium organized by the Sociedad Española de Musicología, entitled  A propósito de Albéniz conmemorating the 100th anniversary of his death.  In New York, Mr Riva performed the final concert of the Catalan Days Festival with the the Sylvan Winds at Weill Hall on May 20. The programme included works by Oltra, Bertrán, Lamote de Grignon, Brotons, Guinjoan, Lorca and Montsalvatge.  The following day, the Catalan Center at New York University presented the new Naxos CD,  Song of Stars, 8. 570533, with lectures by Dennis Keene, Director of Voices of Ascension, and Douglas Riva.  In June, Mr Riva presented a concert and a lecture-recital for the American Matthay Association for Piano Festival held at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
