May 2013: GuItar Gems 2013 Festival & Competition
The 8th edition of the Guitar Gems International Classical Guitar Festival & Competition will be held in Netanya, Israel, between 21/09/2013 and 24/09/2013.
 
The Festival will include a range of activities:
  • Concerts
  • International competition 
  • International youth competition 
  • Lectures 
  • Masterclasses 
  • Excursion programme
  • Exhibition & sales of guitars, scores, equipment and CDs
With performances by:
  • Artyom Dervoed (Russia)
  • Duo Devecchi – Seminara (Italy)
  • Liat Cohen (France – Israel)
  • Izhar Elias (Holland-Israel)
  • Daniel Akiva & Keren Hadar (Israel)
  • Israel Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra Netanya

International Competition

Application deadline: 5th September 2013

No age limit. There will be two rounds:
 
Preliminary round (22-23.09.2013): Free choice of program, total time maximum 15 minutes, contrasting styles
 
Final round (24.09.2013): Free choice of program, total time maximum 25 minutes, music from different epochs

Prizes

1st Prize:

  • $4.000 cash
  • $1.000 fee recital at Ramon Noble festival in Mexico
  • Recital at Guitar Gems 2014
  • Concert Guitar by Alfredo Gonzalez, model Corona special edition (worth $5000)
  • Laureate Diploma
  • Gift from Savarez Company – packs of strings and equipment

2nd Prize: 

  • $1.500 cash
  • Laureate Diploma
  • Gift from Savarez Company – packs of strings and equipment

3rd Prize:

  • $1.000
  • Laureate Diploma
  • Gift from Savarez Company – packs of strings and equipment
4–7 places Laureate Diplomas; 8-10 places Honorary Diplomas

Additional prize for best young performer (up to 18 years old): $400 Honorary Diploma

Youth International Competition

Age limit up to 16 years old

Preliminary round: free choice of program, total time maximum 10 minutes
 
Final round: free choice of program, total time maximum 15 minutes

Music from different epochs

  • Concert guitar by Alfredo Gonzalez, Magnolia model special edition (worth $3000)
  • Honorary Diploma

2nd prize:

  • $200
