Oliver Curbelo González, a teacher in the Department of Special Didactics at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), has unearthed a colection of five military marches by the composer Enrique Granados, three of which have never been published.

The collection, dated 1904 and comprising 23 pages, was a gift from the Lleridian composer to King Alfonso XIII and was found languishing in the library of the Palacio Real in Madrid.

Of the Marchas militares only two were known to be in existence, published in the Complete Works of Enrique Granados, housed at the Enrique Granados Collection at the Library of Catalonia.

In his endeavour to continue the search for the Marches initiated three decades ago by another music critic, Oliver Curbelo, consulted the National Heritage Bibliographic Collection, which led to the timely discovery of the collection gifted to Alfonso XIII in this 2016 centenary year of the composer's death.
